want to connect mobile phone to ubuntu

I have a laptop and desktop that run Ubuntu. I want to connect my mobile phone. I'm not having much success with anything that I try. I hope that someone has solved or resolved these issues for Win-mobile phones before I input a long list of messages and stuff.
  • Bluetooth wants to do so many things that I suspect auto-magic config gets in its own way.
    • phone as modem
    • phone as thumb-disk storage
    • phone as media file device
    • phone as speaker-headset
    • sync calendar, address and task data
  • Ubuntu recognizes the phone device on Cable connect but none of the down stream configuration happens.
    Code:

May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: Device driver usbdev2.2_ep00 lacks bus and class support for being resumed.
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: Device driver usbdev2.2_ep81 lacks bus and class support for being resumed.
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: Device driver usbdev2.2_ep82 lacks bus and class support for being resumed.
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: Device driver usbdev2.2_ep03 lacks bus and class support for being resumed.
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_ether
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: Device driver eth1 lacks bus and class support for being resumed.
    May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: eth1: register 'rndis_host' at usb-0000:00:1a.1-1, RNDIS device, 80:00:60:0f:e8:00
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: usbcore: registered new interface driver rndis_host
May 13 10:15:49 mumbles kernel: udev: renamed network interface eth1 to phone0

  • I've read about "synce" but have been unable to make it work either ... primarily because I cannot make synce see the device that the phone becomes when it connects mechanically.
