Wake From Suspend Failure With External HDD Attached
My machine does not wake from suspend correctly when an external drive is attached.
The drive is an external RAID unit attached via Firewire, mounted via fstab. It is always powered on.
When I wake the machine from sleep, I notice no LED activity on the external unit. My monitor's LED indicates it has awoken from sleep, but the screen remains black.
After 15-30 seconds, a blinking cursor appears in the top left corner of the screen.
The machine does not respond to the keyboard.
Given enough time, the monitor puts itself back to sleep.
I need to cycle the power to get out.
When the machine restarts after powering down, I do notice this message: "sde: Assuming drive cache: write through"...
The machine runs updated Fedora 18 RC2, which looks like it is equivalent to what will be released on the 15th.
I haven't found anything obvious in the logs.
What might be going on here? Is there a workaround?
