In an e-mail to 'felicehome' I received this reply:
"It seems like the only option is to use the 2.4.xx kernel."
I truly am a newbie (one week of Linux) and rolling back the kernel sounds daunting. The other option suggested would be to use fedora core 1 ( the sound in core 2 is apparently busted).
