VNF3-250 (nforce3) motherboard. control fan speed ?
I want to confgure my machine as a turned on 24/7 server.
but i have questions about keeping it cool, without wasting power and making too much noise.
In my motherboars BIOS, there is a setting to allow fan speed control when the system is in its sleep mode.
other than that, i cannot find any other mention of wether or not my motherboard allows the changing of fan speeds.
google results are non-existant.
i have an it87 lm_sensors device, but the reading are completely wrong.
but thats anouther problem completely.
I wouldnt have thought that my fan speeds are variable, however, when i listen carefully, i hear varying noise frequencies from the fans....
and nomatter if my CPU is running idle at 1Ghz ( at 1100 mV) or 100% in use at 2.4Ghz (at 1500 mV)
the system tempreture is always wobbleing between 49 and 50 Oc
such a huge clock difference with no tempreture change. ? this surgests that the computer (not linux, but maybe the Bios) is conrolling tempreture ???
how can i find out ??? any idea's ?
if the fan speeds are adjustable, am i likely to find a linux driver ?
