Hello everyone, I have just purchased a Viewsonic VX924 19' LCD and am having some difficulties.

I am using :

Viewsonic VX924 w/ D-Sub and DVI -D inputs
Mandriva 2005 LE
nVidia 6600GT w/ hardware acceleration, two DVI and s-video out
Xorg 6.8.2
Kernel 2.6.11-2

First I must explain that my video card only has 2 DVI ports so when I connect using standard VGA I am using a DVI -> VGA adapter.
So here is my problem, when I first hooked it up to my video card using the DVI-D cable and I didn't get a signal, naturally I tried to use the input select but for some reason I can't access the OSD without a signal. So I hooked up the VX924 to my other computer using the VGA port on the back, this allows for a simultaneous connection. However to my disappointment when I select digital from the OSD's input select the monitor goes black then switches back to analog (D-SUB). So I thought that the DVI cable might be dead due to the lack of signal. I got a working DVI - D cable and tried that, still nothing. I have everything configured to what I think is best, since there is not a specific setting for this particular monitor, I choose 1280 x 1024 Generic Flat Panel and also tried others with no luck. The strangest think is that the vid card is obviously working because my VGA connection is connected through a DVI – VGA adapter and everything works perfectly. I have also made sure everything is plugged in correctly and securely. I would really like to get DVI working because, well I paid for it and I want it to work. From what I can tell I believe that the panel must be defective because I have no other ideas. Also unfortunately I can't hook it up to a Windows computer to see if it's a Linux/DVI problem because none of my Windows boxes have DVI ports and I would prefer not to install windows on my Linux box simply for a troubleshooting session.

Well what worked on my pc was telling explicitly to X that I'm using a digital flat panel. You can do this adding following line in /etc/X11/xorg.conf (I'm using Fedora but I guess problem is not distro but driver), "Monitor" section:
Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP"

I hope this will make as happy as I was when worked :)
