ViewSonic P225 +usb hub +linux

I have a ViewSonic P225 with the usb hub built in to it at the bottom.

I attach a usb device & cat /var/log/messages & I do not see anything. Is their drivers for this? I search google for it & it came up empty..

This is a monitor with a built-in USB hub? Does the monitor connect to the tower by anything other the monitor cable? Also, what distro and kernel are you using? Also, what part of the usb load do you have in /var/log/messages... or really, "dmesg"?

Yeah, it seems like it got the hub on the monitor just fine. The thing is, what's the device you're plugging it that isn't registering? That's the part that doesn't seem to have a driver...

I'm pluggin in a Digital Camera.

I created a folder /mnt/flash
Then I did mount -a /dev/sda1 /mnt/flash

The wierd thing is if I plug the USB to the USB port in the back of the main computer, it finds the Digital camera, and I can get the images off the camera.

when I connect it to the USB hub of the monitor, nothing happens.

The monitor USB extensions have little to no support these days, if it didn't register as a hub to begin with in dmesg, there's little chance of getting it working right now, possibly in the future.

Yeah, its just not there, it got the two hub connectors on the board. I've answered a lot of these posts about USB through the monitor, etc, they're proprietary weird connectors that allow for this and either the company that produces them refuses to release specs for a linux driver, or there's just no one interested in coding on. An extension cable from the port on the case, a $10 usb hub, these are just easier ways of dodging headaches like this one.
