I'm new to Linux. I recently installed Slackware 9.1 (2.4.22 kernel). KDE seems to load up fine, and everything seems to work ok (games, editors, etc.). But when I boot up Linux, it scrolls errors..atleast 150 of them very quickly..the most I can see is that theyre mainly "lnsmod:". At the end of each line it says failed, or not found. They appear to be something with my video.."/Intel/video/blahblahblah"..and "char i801", but I cant be sure they all are from that. Under KDE, when I run some applications from the console, like kwrite, I get a "Klib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".". I also see a lot of these errors if I CTRL+ALT+F1..and when I reboot. My video card is Intel 82845G. I think the motherboard has onboard sound/video/LAN. Although I ran alsaconfig and my sound works perfectly now...is there a command I can run for video..or should I just get a new card?
Next is my modem. Lucent Win Modem. I run KPPP..setup the account, but only get "Modem is busy". I get the same thing when I "Query modem". I read about the error on a modem-HOWTO, says it might not exist, or has the wrong serialport/IRQ? My modem is ttyS2/Com 3. I read the "read before posting"..so I went into Linux (on XP now), and ran lspci..I'll paste the results at the end of this.
I have $50.00 (US) for a video card and modem to support Linux, I'm sure thats enough if I use Ebay and stuff, yeah? If (when) I do get new hardware, should I just uninstall Linux, install the hardware, and then reinstall Linux so it will detect it? Most of the guides I read online are like a foreign language..so 'recompiling' things are pretty much out for me..unless I want to end up reinstalling anyways. Lastly, any basic recommendations for a video card and modem? I've found a 'voodoo3 2000' video card for $9.50, that'd work?

Edit- I forgot to mention that it says my modem uses IRQ 9...and says to run setserial to see if it matches..and if it doesnt, then I need to run a script at bootup so it will detect my modem..can anyone elaborate on this (setserial with which commands, where would I get a script?)?
Thanks for any help, I tried to get everything in this thread so I wouldnt have to end up making another in the near future.
