I have a Veo Advanced Webcam, but I can't find any drivers for it. Apparently, Veo went out of business and no one bought them out or is maintaining their drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find a driver that will work with this? I've searched all morning (thanks Google) but couldn't find much of anything.
Also, I'm a Linux noob. I just found the terminal the other day, but I'm not afraid to "get my hands dirty".
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 on a custom built machine.
AMD Sempron 2400+
nVidia GeForce FX 5200
I'll be glad to provide any other information that's needed.
This is linux so "Veo Advanced Webcam" doesn't tell us much. We need to know more.
First thing to do is plug it in. Wait for a moment, then do lsusb in a terminal. This will tell you what is attached to your USB ports.
Here's mine:
Code:
tred@vaio:~$ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 07ab:fcfe Freecom Technologies <-External USB HDD

The interesting part is the product VendorID and DeviceID, highlighted in green, above.
Find these IDs for your webcam, then go here: http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html and try to match up your IDs with the lists of devices, chipsets and drivers. With luck, your cam will be supported. If not, you are out of luck
Sorry. Like I said, I'm a complete noob with Linux. Anyway, I ran lsusb and this is what I got:

I looked at the website. The closest is 0545:8333. Would that work or am I out of luck with this webcam?
Thanks Tredegar. I'll take a look at these links today.
Bro, we exactly have the same Veo Webcam. Have you had any success? If so, maybe you can share it to me. At Windows, I have found the right driver. I am just starting to use it on my Linux PC.
Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck finding a driver that will work. I'm still looking, but am about to give up. I don;t use the webcam for much anyway, I had one and I thought there might be a driver out there somewhere.
