v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory

Having issues with ivtv and /dev/video0. Trying to setup a Xawtv/Mythtv box with Slack 11 using a Hauppage PVR-150 card just bought so its newest revision
Heres the info:
Xawtv yields this
Code:

bash-3.1$ xawtv
This is xawtv-3.95, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.18)
WARNING: Your X-Server has no DGA support.
can't open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such file or directory
no video grabber device available

lspci shows (kinfocenter says all the correct details about my Tv Tuner card)
Code:

00:0d.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
modprobe yields this
Code:

bash-3.1# modprobe ivtv
FATAL: Error inserting ivtv (/lib/modules/2.6.18/kernel/drivers/media/video/ivtv/ivtv.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

dmesg says this
Code:

bash-3.1# dmesg | grep ivtv
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_read
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_hauppauge_analog
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_read
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_hauppauge_analog
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_read
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_hauppauge_analog
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_read
ivtv: Unknown symbol tveeprom_hauppauge_analog

Kernel modules work right
Code:

bash-3.1# lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
agpgart                24880  0
firmware_class          6784  0
cx2341x                8836  0
videodev              20096  0
v4l1_compat            11076  1 videodev
v4l2_common            18560  2 cx2341x,videodev

What is going on, all sources say this should work but ivtv says there is an unknown symbol/module lurking somewhere

Do you need to apply specific I/O or irq values for the card when you modprobe. I have a piece of hardware that will not load at all unless the correct io_port irq values are supplied to the kernel with the modprobe command.
