Greetings all,

I can not fiigure out why my modem is only connecting at 14400 in my Red Hat Linux 9 (RH9) box, but connected at 56K in my Windows XP box. I was able to finally get it to dial-in and login properly (PAP/CHAP), but beyond that I'm not sure about the configuration. Since I was able to connect fine when the modem was in my Windows XP machine that tells me that it's *not* the line. I'm thinking I either don't have something configured correctly, or its a hardware issue (the computer). My linux firewall box is only an Intel Celeron 600Mhz with 128MB of memory.

I did try searching this forum and google with no luck. The stuff google returned was from 1999 and wasn't really relavent.

BTW, I'm actually accessing this site right now from my Win box through the my linux box, just really slow.

They are finally offering high speed internet at my location and I will have it tomorrow. Since I won't be using my modem anymore this isn't really much of a concern anymore... but if any one knows the solution I would still like to hear so I know for the future. Thanks.
