Hello, I have phonic firefly 302 sound card, I've installed jack audio connection kit and libfaado..
after installation I've started JACK audio connection kit, pressed setup, chose "firewire" in the driver and when I tried to connect it responded:

Could not connect to JACK server as client. - Overall operation failed. - Unable to connect to server. Please check the messages window for more info.

Hi, I've just done a similar job with my edirol usb (UA-25EX)soundcard this week.

The jack server was packaged with libjack, I had to completely uninstall jack, qjackctl, and all the libs.

I reinstalled libjack and then the rest and it works ok. 8.7ms latency.

Then eventually I rebooted to get the server to work.

my guess is libffado is not installed currectly, anyways, I downloaded ffado and tried to install it, I wrote scons PREFIX=/usr DEBUG=1 and it worked fine,

well, i've uninstalled libjack, jackit, qjackctl, installed scons 1.2, installed libffado-2.0-rc1 (i just wrote scons-1.2.0, and then scons-1.2.0 install, like it was told on the installation file),

Man I hate that!

I have been trying to get my edirol to run at 96kHz play and record.

It can't be done in M$Win But the Linux kernel gurus have seemed to crack it.

At the same time I have had the 256 error too.

You could try to de/in/crease some of the values, Like 48000, to 44100, or

Some thing similar.

Still plenty of work to be done here I suggest.

hmm, what bugs me the most is the fact that the company that created the sound card (phonic) not only didn't want to give the code/details of the driver, they sent me a link to libffado !
anyways, i tried to play a bit.. not sure what to do though... maybe someone can give me the exact numbers to input for my phonic firefly 302?
