USB2.0 on 2001 mobo?!

Is this possible?! lspci provided me with the following information...
I've been using Linux on this motherboard forever... I never knew it had USB 2.0 ...

00:14.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6202 [USB 2.0 controller] (rev 16)
00:14.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6202 [USB 2.0 controller] (rev 16)

This is a (year) 2001 motherboard!!! I didn't know USB 2.0 was even out then!
Is this true? Or could lspci be wrong?
