Hi,
when I poweroff my computer the usb keyboard receiver does not get powered off (green led stays lit). It turns off if I pull it out and back into the connector on the motherboard. Works on laptop so its not a faulty receiver. Also works in Windows on same machine.

Also signals from the mouse wheel disappear from time to time, i.e it wont scroll the first time I spin the mouse wheel. Keyboard also repeates pressed buttons ocasionaly like "reeeeepeates" or it doesnt print anything on the screen at all, the first time I push a button.

Keyboard is Logitech S 510
Motherboard MSI K8M Neo2 Platinum
Arch linux but I compile my own kernels, could I possibly have chosen the wrong usb driver?

Anything else you need to know? Have searched forums and googled but no one seems to have these issues....

Just because you turn the computer off it doesn't mean that the reciever will power off. I use a wireless usb adapter (d-link wua-1340) and it stays on after the computer has been powered off, and it doesn't matter whether I am using windows or linux. I think you might have to change a jumper setting on your mobo to make sure no power trickles to the usb ports post shutdown.
