USB to serial converter


Dear friends,
I have an GPS receiver with USB port. But I dont have any usb port in my embedded system.Here Linux 2.6 kernel is working.I want to communitcate this gps rx through serial port. How can I convert the USB data through serial port in my embedded system? .I came to know that, usb to serial adapter is thr. Can directly connect it and get the data thr this adapter or I need to change anythg in my linux os?.

The USB serial adapters or andy USB device requires a host controller i.e a PC. It can not be connected in reverse i.e. the USB connecter attached to the device.

What is the make / model of your GPS receiver?

At the moment I do not have any easy ideas on what hardware to suggest.
