USB Support for APC Battery back up UPS

My APC ups (model no. Back-UPS ES 500) has a usb connection that can tell a windows computer when there's been a blackout so that it can shutdown properly.

Does anyone know if there's linux driver for this function? (I'm using Debian, if it matters.)
