Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

I have been looking at this also. I downloaded the daily alsa-driver-20090718.tar.gz and uncommented the section on US-144. When I plug the device in I get a kernel panic 2.6.31-rc3 .

Does this device need firmware ? Doesn't seem to.

Has anyone else managed to get the 144 working ?

Elias

I am looking for this too.
If the Tascam US-144 would work under linux I would have no need for Windows anymore and could finally completely delete it

I found this link http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~smimram/tascam/

Similar usb sound cards have been tried in liunx. Problem is they are rather like the conexant soft modems. If more work was done with ndiswrapper the windows drivers might be used.

I doubt you will get it working but I hope you do. It would help me get my line 6 ux2 working.
