USB Sound Device as Default

I have both motherboard audio and a MusicStream USB DAC on my machine.

I can get output through the Mobo audio by cat'ing an audio file to /dev/dsp or /dev/audio.

The only way I've found to get sound out though the USB device so far is to use the ALSA Output plugin in XMMS to select the MusicStreamer as the hardware device.

Can I somehow set so everything goes out through the USB device?

sorry but

Not very helpful I know, but in Ubuntu there is a sound configuration tool that you can do this with. It seems to be a gnome-ey thing, so maybe you have a similar tool in Slackware? I found this link on google:

You might be able to run alsaconf and at the appropriate time tell it to use your USB device by default.
