usb removable kde Mandrake10.0

I'm using Mandrake 10. 0 with KDE. I have a San Disk usb mass storage thingie which works fine. However when I unplug it the Icon does not disappear. If I plug it in again I get a second Icon. If I tired to unmount first it says its not there. If I reboot it will disappear but then that would be just like using windows! Yikes. Any ideas???

I have discovered something interesting since my first post. I stopped my SETI classic processing getting ready to use the new Boinc software. I used the pen drive last night and the icon did not appear at all. However I did find the drive under /mnt/removable and It worked fine. This is very odd, maybe a coincidence.
I also have another pen drive some Chinese mystery brand, it does not work. Mandrake complains about overlapping partitions and the scsimon error in var/logs.
