Smile usb printer server with Slackware

Hi, do you know of any usb printer server which works with Slackware (which really works without having to go on a pilgrimage)? I would like to print from seven different (Slackware) hosts without keeping always on a pc only for printing.
Thank you

USB printer server? You mean a printer server that allows you to use a USB printer? I use an inexpensive NAS with Slackware ARM that serves up a USB printer via samba and cups (it also does AirPrint). Most network printers that are Windows compatible can be accessed via SAMBA as well.

Hi, thanks for answering. I mean a small box with a usb port (for the connection to the printer) and an ethernet port to be connected to a router. I got one of these print servers, but only after I discovered it works only with Winxp, because it needs a dedicated software developed only for Win.

i would assume something like a raspberry pi would work so long as the printer is linux compatible (like an hp).

Yes a RPi would work I'm sure, and it's hard to beat the price. I have an Iomega ix2-200 running Slackware ARM 13.37; the custom debian version that comes with the device would probably work for most printers. Most NAS units have that capability; I'd shop for one that has some sort of support by the ARM community in cae you want to enhance it.

Thank you for your answers, I've just bought a raspberry pi (and it's really cheap).

check out this link: http://docs.slackware.com/slackbookrinting

another way is to email the support of your manufacturer whether they support your distro
