USB Ports Deregistered
After an update of my kernel to get my Radeon 9800 working with my nForce board :D , my USB mouse did not work. Out came the USB to PS/2 connector and I thought I could forget about that little problem  . I found out I couldnt be farther from the truth. On trying to sync my palm for the first time I noticed there was no activity so i ran dmesg. This is the part that I noticed was wrong:

Any suggestion pls? <EDIT> Forgot some essential info  kernel 2.4.22, Red Hat, nForce 2 m/b, NO nVidia drivers |
Did you build the kernel with all the USB modules?
I've seen some problems with the USB and 2.4.22 kernel. Extract a new copy of linux-2.4.22 and patch the kernel with patch-2.4.23-pre5. Good luck Brian1 " When in doubt, RTFM " |
I have just gone through check my options and all usb drivers are compiled as modules. This includes UHCI etc and fully compliant HID etc.
So i got 2.4.23-pre6 as pre5 is not on www.kernel.org and patched it in succesfully but I get dodgy menu errors when im in xconfig and I cant do anything. Seeing as you mentioned pre5 i'll hunt for that elsewhere. Trouble is there must have been something wrong with it so I'm unsure. |
Didn't know pre6 was out. Have to check it out. The pre5 is there on the site you just have to goto the ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/
Check out my site here for building the kernel the way I do for Redhat. http://www.fullnet.com/u/crusher9/kernel.html Most of the site is blank, but I have a few things done. Have fun Brian1 " When in doubt, RTFM " |
I have asus a7n8x-vm/400 board with nforce2 chipset.
I cannot use my 6 usb ports either :(:( |
