USB pendrive with scsi hard disk

When I insert a usb pendrive (in Suse 10.2) it is recognized, as "sdb1" or "sdf1", but after a while it disconnects itself.
I think it happens because I'm using a scsi hard disk, which is recognized as "sda".
I' ve tried other distributions (like Debian) with same results.
Can someone explain me how to solve this ?
Thanks.

After you think the drive disconnects itself, open up the console and enter

dmesg

Copy/Paste and post the last 20 or so lines !
