Usb pen and hotplug, after Kernel 2.6.9

Hello,
I use Slackware 10 and upgraded some days ago to Kernel 2.6.9 (was 2.4.26); after that, I was no more able mounting my usb pendrive, wich before went just fine using /dev/sda1. Now, I found out that device is no more used, and I sholud use /dev/uba1. First time, all right, my pen drive was up again, then I reboot and nothing, just like before. So I noticed doing
/etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug stop
/etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug start

the device is correctly recognized. The problem is: will I have to do all this every time I reboot or turn on my machine? Stopping and restarting hotplug isn't very fast, and for a task like mounting a pendrive, which is usually immediate, it is annoying even if it works, after all.
I tried serching also for this problem, but didn't find anything, any help or suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advance :)
