I am trying to figure out if something is wrong with my usb ports.
My usb printer does not operate (cups or lpr).
My usb wifi lan adapters (netgear WG111T and Yakumo QuickLAN) do not work either.
On my old PC K6/450 running FC3 all of those peripherals operate normally.

They are detected :

richard@ubuntu:~$ lsusb
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 1385:4251
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04b8:0005 Seiko Epson Corp. Stylus Printer
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
richard@ubuntu:~$

If I unplug the wifi lan adapter an reconnect it in the next slot I have this in dmesg :
.
.
usb 3-3: USB disconnect, address 3
usb 3-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
richard@ubuntu:~$

So it does look ok.

The trouble is that normaly plugging the lan adapter should fire the 'usbnet' device driver (as it does on the old pc with FC3) but here nothing happens.
The 'usbnet' driver is not loaded.

richard@ubuntu:~$ lsmod | grep usb
usblp 13952 0
richard@ubuntu:~$

If I start the 'usbnet' module manually it does start but does not connect to the device.

There is a link that i am missing (or that is actually missing)

Has anybody a hint ?

Richard
