My sound and usb wireless mouse no longer work and they did before the compile, but I dont get any error messages or anything like that. Can anyone offer assistance?

The only crap I have to fill your head with right now is the question I ask everyone else. Did you make sure to compile the correct modules needed for the devices to work, or did you blow that off in hopes that they would join the party on their own?
If any of that seemed mean, I'm just in a goofy mood so don't take it that way. |
Yes, the modules are there, since the ALSA mixer and everything else starts when I boot. Other than that I dont really have alot to run on. I think if I did it would make this alot easier.
Well, was there any other modules that were installed last time that aren't now? Also, are your USB ports functioning properly?
USB ports are fine. My printer still works, and I havent seen any modules that were left out from the original kernel.
Do you have the module-init-tools installed? If you're not sure, you should check it out. You could also try using kernel 2.6.4 since it's the newest.
Do a lsmod and see if usb-uhci or usb-ehci are there. Those are probably the modules you need (at least it's that way for me.)
I also need OHCI myself, so check for usb-ohci as well and if it's not there then try putting it in. Of course, I use the nforce2 chipset and VIA might not need it, but then again it might.
