USB Mouse Problems

Hey all,

Ok here is the problem, I have suse 9.3 pro on my Toshiba A45. Everything but a few things installed without a problem. The problem I am having is when I first start up my laptop my mouse (USB Optical Generic) will not work but my touchpad will. I go into YaST and the hardware config section then the mouse config section, the second that it loads the mouse will begin working just fine. The correct mouse is selected so i'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

Thanks

Ben

Check the xorg.conf file. You will find it in /etc/X11 folder

See under pointer section (I think it's called that).

You can make a simple test. open a console. as root run this commands:
See which one of these produces output to the console. That's the one you want

cat /dev/psaux (and move your mouse)
cat /dev/mouse (and move your mouse)
cat /dev/psmouse (and move your mouse)

Change the primary pointer device in your xorg.conf file accordingly.

Good luck!
