Usb mobile phone data transfer

Hello Everybody
I've been using Linux [mainly Red Hat and now Mandriva but I'm prepared to make more partitions for booting other distros if I need to. Is there a distro out there which will allow me to use my Nec e228 mobile phone usb data cable? Mandriva lists it as 'unknown'[but does show its name]. I wouldn't like to have to pay £25 for Nec's cd. Really 25 quid! And it may only support Windows.
By the way if the existing hardware does support Linux its supposed to be free on 'ebay'. Yeah! I got the cable only.
Penquins are great creatures.

Yes, you do need to buy the software, and yes, it'll be windows only.
