help!! How can I setup USB midi controller?

I am running ubuntu hoary hedgehog on one computer, and linspire on another. I have a midiman Keystation 49e and an oxygen8 midi controller, both usb, and I can't seem to figure out how to get these to work with either distro. Is it even possible? Can anyone help? I am a semi-pro musician, and would like to be able to do a complete switch to linux. I do have the latest version of Crossover if there's any way that could help.

Is this what you are looking for?

This is generally the best place to check for USB device compatibility.

mk-249C

I have an Evolution MK-249C which according to the link you posted,
is supported by ALSA.

Some programs detect its existance as a possible MIDI input, but none can seem to catch the MIDI events. Any ideas why that might be?
