USB Microsoft Trackball Explorer

I can't seem to get my USB trackball to work. I've installed the HID drivers for the kernel. I'm running Slackware 10, with the 2.4 kernel.
/sbin/lsusb picks it up:
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 054c:0069 Sony Corp. Memorystick MSC-U03 Reader
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 045e:0024 Microsoft Corp. Trackball Explorer
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

dmesg | grep usb doesn't give me any problems:
usb-uhci.c interrupt, status 3, frame# 391
input: USB HID v1.00 Mouse [Microsoft Microsoft Trackball Explorer] on usb2:2.0

I've also got a Logitech Marble Mouse which won't work either.

Perhaps I just don't have the proper line in xorg.conf?

Thanks.
