Unhappy USB Mass Storage problem

Hi @ all

i need some help in connecting my usb device to my linux box.

If i connect my 160GB Freecom USB device to my linux box i am not able to mount the partitions

syslog tells something about a missing module...

connect:
Oct 27 09:42:13 spacy03 kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
Oct 27 09:42:13 spacy03 kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.
Oct 27 09:42:13 spacy03 modprobe: FATAL: Module scsimon not found.

disconnect:
Oct 27 09:50:42 spacy03 kernel: usb 4-1: USB disconnect, address 3

I am using Mandrake 10.0 CE with Kernel 2.6.9 from Kernel.org + supermount patch.
The drive contains three partitions and each partition is formated with NTFS

My 128 USB stick is working fine.
So what is going wrong on my box?

you haven't compiled the scsimon module... seems pretty logical going by that straight forward error message. redo your kernel to include it.

to be honest i have no idea. google says it should have probably been accepted into linux during the 2.5 developement... no files named like that though. might want to look at this thread though.

Thats intresting... I'm a bit of a newbi and I have a similar problem. I have two USB mass storage things:

One is a Western Digital 80 gig Firewire\USB combo (i use the USB)
and the other is a Lexar Media JumpDrive Secure, I can't mount them as root, but it says it loads them at boot up.

I'm sorta confuzed

The good news is they both work on linux, did you try to mount them manually?
