USB Keyboard disable before installing Redhat 7.3
I use USB keyboard. When I attempt to install Redhat 7.3 from CD1, just after booting from CDRom , I press ENTER to start installing, and my keyboard become disable. It's impossible to finish setup without keyboard, for I should type a root password during the setup process.
After trying for several times, I find that every time when executing the command line 'uhci' just before install, the Num Lock turn off and I am sure that it's the time my keyboard came wrong. What's the solution? About my Computer: The PS/2 keyboard port on my mainboard is not available. Without buying a new mainboard, instead , I use usb keyboard. It's all OK during WindowsXP or DOS for there is a 'USB keyboard Support' in CMOS. |
Redhat 7.3 is quite old now - have you considered using a more up-to-date version? Your problem may not re-occur with a newer version.

I have tried to install redhat 9. But the problem is still there:
before entering a nice setup windows, a dialog appear( something about CDRom), and I must select Skip or OK with keyboard. In this step, my keyboard disabled, far before setting root password. |
