usb key is freezing my system

i have an A-DATA PD1 usb key. when i insert the key in my usb port, SuSE aotumount is, and everything seems to be working perfectly. but, when i open konqueror and browse to the files on the pen, and move/copy files to my HD, everything stops...completely. i have to do a hard reboot to get it back up. on computers running windows, there are no problems.

can this have something to do with the fact that the pen is formatted with FAT32...? should it rather be foramtted with FAT? or what?

I do not think SuSE automounts it. This is probably done by Gnome or whatever you use for GUI.
I recommend to shut down the X server and go thru the process from CLI. Then you can see messages how your device is recognised by system and when mounting and copying files manually there may be useful error messages.

i dunno if the automount is a KDE or a SuSE feature, but I have not seen it on any other distros yet.
I will try to mount and copy/move files without X, and see what happens.
