Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB Hotplugging and ECIADSL

Yes I know another newbie question.....sorry

I have redhat 9 installed and I have managed to install my BT voyager USB modem using the eciadsl drivers. However for this to work the instructions tell you to add hotplug to the blacklist.
Ive been using my usb memory stick for a few months by manually mounting and umounting. This however is getting irritating, since im sure theres got to be a way to get both eciadsl and hotplug working together. Any clues ?

Cheers
