USB headset not working.

Hi I did a search and found that this is a popular subject but my problem is a bit different from the others i have seen so I figured I would create a new post. I have a Sony headset for my PS2 its the same as the logitech one but with the Sony name on it. I plugged into my USB slot and all was good the system recognized it and everything. So then I tried using the microphone with no luck its not picking up any sound no matter what I do in KMix. But I can hear music through it using XMMS so I know it is working to that extent. Any help at all with getting the mic to work would be greatly appreciated. Oh I am running KDE in SuSe 10. Thanks.
