Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

USB Hard Drive With Many Different Types of Partitions

I have a USB hard drive that has on it, many different types of partitions. Everthing from FAT32 to XFS to ReiserFS and ext2.

Thing is, when I try to mount it by doing:
Code:
mount -t auto /dev/uba1 /mnt/old1
It mounts just fine... Except the only thing that does mount is the FAT32 partition. The other ones don't appear at all.

Does anyone know how I can read the other partitions?

The mount command you gave says mount the first partition. Presumably that is what is happening.

To mount the others, you need to set up entries for them in /etc/fstab, mountpoints for them in /mnt, then mount them according to what filesystems they have on them.

If you have udev running, then it might be the system will do this for you, but I am not sure about the limitations associated with multiple different filesystems.

To view the partition definitions inside run:

fdisk -l /dev/uba

Hi,

You could do a 'fdisk -l' and then mount explicitly.
