USB Flash Drive

I have a Sandisk USB Flash Drive that I use in a USB 2.0 port on my Debian box. I can mount and unmount the drive just fine, but when I unmount it, it's still getting power. (The green LED on the drive stays on) Is there some other command to turn off the power to USB devices?

Try umount -l /mnt/[whatever folder you've mounted it in] ... It's a sort of forced unmounting

I have the same... the kernel seems to have some problem to turn off the LED, but it doesn't mean that you can't unplug it, usually, once unmounted, it is fine. I once figured a way to turn off the led (I dont remember how I lost the gadget since a while) but it was a pain (I think I was unloading some modules related to the USB)

A lit-up led is probably just a power thing; all it probably means is that it's plugged in and that it has power. If it unmounts without errors, you probably can just unplug it and it'll be OK

The generic windows driver that handles my Cruzer mini turns off the light when i do a "Safely remove" on it. In linux, eject -sv /dev/sdb doesn't show any errors, but the device remains and the light still glows.
