how can i overcome this?
hi there lucask39,
first of all welcome to LQ.org and welcome to the Linux community as this was your first post :P
My question to you is: Why did you end up choosing Red Hat 9 as your Linux distribution? Did you have that CD laying out there somewhere, or did it come with a magazine?
It's basically a discontinued distribution and you may be better off trying to run Fedora Core 5 which is very similar to Red Hat as it is an openly-developed project designed by Red Hat. It surely would have more support and you'll more likely find answers to all your questions with that distribution unless you end up choosing and going for another distribution of course.
the reason i had chosen to install redhat 9 was because i need to learn how to use linux for a networking course which i intend to do next year and a good friend of mine recommended that i use redhat.
anyway, do you reckon you will be able to help me with this lil problem anyway?
na for real though, nothing wrong with redhat 9, but with fedora you may get more support and answers for your problems..but as long as you're happy with redhat...i'm happy with slack..even with an "older" version :P
