usb ethernet wire card for linux

Hi all,

I need to install additional ethernet wire card. Which card do you recommend to install on fedora 12? Maybye someone installed EDIMAX EU-4207. I found support for kernel 2.6.9 -13, kernel 2.6.14-35 on vendor site.

But mostly I need confirmed recommendation for any installedcard for linux.

Thank a lot for any info!

I have never used a USB Ethernet adapter that wasn't supported by Linux, they are very simple devices and there only seems to be a few chipsets out in circulation.

I would say, go with the cheapest one you can find (I have seen them for ~$5 USD online) and give it a shot; more than likely it will work.

I would advise to first go to Fedora 15.
Fedora 12 is unsupported since nearly one year (so no software update, and then totally unsafe ...).

On my Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits I have a trendnet tu2-et100. It worked as soon as I plugged it in.
I tried it on two Lenovo Thinkpads: a w520 and a t61.

On the t61 I tried it with the wanem iso (a live CD to turn a pc into a router simulating bandwidth, packet drops, etc ...). It also worked on first try.
