USB devices on reboot
Im having problems with my USB devices. let me explain a bit. I have a USB mouse and a USB Wacom tablet. I dont ever use my mouse but i leave it in because SuSE (maybe X) seems to like it that way. I have no problem with that. I get my wacom tablet set up with sax2 and restart x and all is well. i do a a series of cat /dev/input/event* and find keyboard as 1 mouse as 2 and wacom as 3. then i reboot the computer and my tablet doesnt work and mouse half way works (no scroll). Can i make it so they dont switch around? in my XF86Config i have the mouse set to /dev/mouse and the tablet as /dev/input/event3 . Maybe there is another device i can set my tablet to? thanks.

IBM usb keyboard no good after reboot
I have a similar problem I think. I have an IBM usb keyboard, and it works from a clean power up, but when I reboot from windows or from linux, it usually does not work. I have to turn the power off and then back on again, and sometimes even disconnect the usb cable while it goes through lilo, seems to help. I have no solution, and I know other ppl who have a similar problem, with a usb printer. If you find a solution, let me know - big_wierd_al@hotmail.com

forgot to add
Another very odd thing that I have noticed the usb keyboard is doing, is to cause lilo to draw those dots after it says loading linux "............................................." very slowly. It usualy tkes no more then 3 seconds to do it, but with the USB keyboard plugged in, it takes around 10 seconds. Strange :)

Any error messages? Both work for me. What's your hardware?
|
amd64 fx-53, 1gb ram, 6800 ultra, saitek gaming keyboard, logitech mx510
both the keyboard and mouse worked FINE after initial install. I tried to install the nvidia drivers that i downloaded to i went to console and "init 3" and the system went to close to console and wouldn't do anything, so i cAD the system and went back, mouse and keyboard were both dead. I am confused... |
I have an IBM USB keyboard, and a usb webcam. The keyboard works from first install, but when I reboot, it doesn't work. I have figured out that if I don't use the Fedora hardware installer (kudzu), different with Suse unfortunately I think, and do not officially install the drivers/modules for the keyboard, it works after reboot. It is very strange indeed, I have no idea why it works like this. To recap, I didn't not configure the USB devices with the system configuration tools, and they seem to work. Hope this is of some use.
