US Robotics 56k faxmodem - Lunix 8.0?

Hi. I apologize if a similar question has been asked here before, but I'm having trouble with my new installation of Redhat 8.0.

When I try to set up my external modem, Redhat doesn't regocnize it on the system. Yet, if I unplug the modem or plug it back in, it will "configure" it in the startup mode (sorry if my terminology is incorrect or vague). I can use the default settings to get the modem to sound as if it's dialing in and making noise, blinking lights, etc., but my ISP claims there's no problem on their end. Any hints?

Well, as the hardware seems to be working ...
did you setup the parameters for your ISP
correctly, like phone number, usear-account,
password, PAP, CHAP or whatever they use?? :)

Cheers,
Tink

Thanks, I got the situation sorted out with a RedHat expert... although I don't know that I'd be able to explain step-for-step how we solved the problem.

Thank you!
