unusual cpu usage by module cx8800 (fc6)

when the cx8800 module (a module for tvcard support) is loaded there is an unusual 30% cpu usage under the process event/0 which has never happened on anyother distro i have used and seems to be recent as i've yet to see it after installing fedora until now.
kernel 2.6.20-1.2925.fc6

tvcard is a leadtek 2000xp expert edition
i would be greatful if someone could provide an answer. manythanks
