"unable to set up wireless lan usb adapter"


i am using an fedora core 1 linux on pentium IV 2.8 ghz/256ram machine,recentely i was setting up wireless usb lan adapter in my linux machine the driver for the adapter was not on list so i downloaded one.but for installation it is needed to modify kernel my kernel is 2.4.24 and can any one tell me how to modify kernel my adapter is of surecom EP-9001(usb) help me
