I am using Ubuntu 10.10 on my iMac dual boot. Everything was working fine as far as booting into the Ubuntu GUI.
When the Update manager appeared with new updates, I was unable to restart Ubuntu into the GUI after the update installs. What should I do? I am obviously on another computer typing this urgent request.
I was just able to log in. I chose a different option in the Grub menu. The option I was selecting was Linux Generic PAE. Do you know what this one is and should I delete it?
I am in the GUI at the moment. I chose a different option from the GRUB startup menu and it seemed to work fine. How can I present a list of everything that shows up on my GRUB menu? I want to post it so that someone here can tell me how to delete the items that are not necessary.
The file that contains grub configuration is listed below:
/boot/grub/grub.cfg
You can display this like this:
Code:
cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg
and then post it here along with the option you used to get to the GUI. With that information we might be able to instruct you on how to change the default so it uses the option that you chose.
