Ultrium 2 - multi-tape error (DUMP: fopen on /dev/tty fails: No such device or addres
I have successfully backed up a 300-GB RHEL4u4 Linux partition to a remote Ultrium 2 tape drive on a Solaris 9 box many times. All of a sudden, when the dump hits the EOT, instead of waiting patiently for me to change tapes, the dump aborts:
DUMP: Change Volumes: Mount volume #2 DUMP: fopen on /dev/tty fails: No such device or address DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted. I used a cleaning tape, tried 3 other new tapes, power cycled the tape drive and rebooted the Sun computer. I also tried the dump from a Solaris 9 machine to the Ultrium and it also fails in trhe same way. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hi
Same Error Appearing in Server. what is solution? why happen this? |
It looks like you're running the dump via a remote terminal rather than via the host system's console? My guess (and it is just a guess!) is that dump needs to have you interact with it (Type "yes" or "no" or something on the system console, not a terminal)
I can't cut and past the relevant section from Code:
$ man dump Can you run your multi tape dump from a local console or via a terminal server connected to the console? My :twocents: Play Bonny! :hattip: |
