udev/hal, problems...

I'm trying to set up hal and udev. I have 2 problems:
When I run lshal or hal-device-manager I get:

Failed to connect to socket /var/lib/dbus/system_bus_socket: No such file or directory

(There is nothing at all in /var/lib/dbus.)
And, sound doesn't work properly now. If I try aplay:

ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1155snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: No such device

/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p is there though. And mplayer and Flash Player can play sound.
