The only problem that I can see with the Jetway NC81-LF is the Network controller. If you Google the "RTL8111C Linux" you will see that there are problems with this controller and some versions of Linux. I purchased some PCI NIC cards using the Realtek RTL8111C controller but was never able to get them to work in Ubuntu Linux. You are paying quite a premium for the ITX form factor and unless you need that form factor you may wish to look at a microATX form factor with the same capabilities at half the price.
The Jetway NC82-LF has only a single PCI slot and so you can only add one additional card to the system. If you decide later that you need a different NIC and video card you will not be able to expand.
Thanks for your reply
The network card probably won't be too big of an issue for me because I can always just use an internal USB port and plug in a USB network card for it...
And yes, the mini ITX form factor is expensive but nothing else (other than perhaps a pico ITX) would fit into the space I need it to...
purchased NC81-LF and Athlon 4600+ for HDTV project. was able to get Mythbuntu 8.10 to install, but no sound. video works on MytvTV unless proprietary drivers installed. (using HMDI port for all tests).
Mythbuntu 9.04 won't install due to (apparent) firmware issue.
upgrade from installed 8.10 has same issue
