Ubuntu - Magellan triton 400 gps

Hi all,

Has anyone had any look with reading data from this gps? I would like to be able to read the waypoints and tracks from the gps. It is usb and when I plug it in it detects that it is connected to a pc and tries to connect.

Running lsusb yields:

Code:
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 120f:5260
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 051d:0002 American Power Conversion Uninterruptible Power Supply
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:c03d Logitech, Inc. M-BT69a Pilot Optical Mouse
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
It looks like it is on device 007. I am at a loss on what to do next. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
troy

Never mind,

It looks like the data on the gps is in a proprietary format

I'll have to install windows on virtual box and see if I can get the data off it from there.

Does anyone know of a good gps (North America - Canada) that is open and works well with linux?

Thanks,
Troy
