Ubuntu 9.10 & Asus Xonar DS = PROBLEM!

I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 on my HTPC , but my sound card , ASUS Xonar DS didn't work.
I updated to the latest ALSA drivers , as described here , and succesfully got the latest ALSA drivers :

Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.22.1.
Compiled on Feb  9 2010 for kernel 2.6.31-14-generic (SMP).

BUT my sound card isn't still detected!!

aplay: device_list:223: no soundcards found...

Then I saw this on ALSA page and saw that Xonar DS is supported (in ALSA ver 1.0.23 !!! Typo? ), as described here

So I :

sudo  modprobe snd-pcm-oss
sudo modprobe snd-mixer-oss
sudo modprobe snd-seq-oss

but still

This is not a typo; the Xonar DS is not yet supported in ALSA 1.0.22 but will be supported in 1.0.23.
Try a development snapshot from http://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kern...a/alsa-driver/.

PS1 I am following these instructions, see how it goes...

PS2 OH MY GOD THAT DID IT! MY ASUS XONAR DS FINALLY WORKS! Thanx m8 !

The script that you got from ubuntuforums.org has an option to download the latest snapshot; call it with "-s" after the call with "-d".

Hello Everyone, this is my first post ever on linux questions, I'm kinda new with .tar files, so, As Braveheart1980 said it worked for him, I tried as well to do the exact same this but I'm not really sure which ALSA version to download. I know is ALSA 1.0.23 that supports Asus Xonar DS, but i don't see which one of the list is this version. Could you tell me which one to use in order to make my sound card work ? thanx in advance....
