Ubuntu 6.06 and Lexmark...

A person I spoke to said that an old version of Ubuntu works with the all-in-one printers, and the new Ubuntu doesn't. Is this true or not?

It would be nice to know for development in support for such printers as mine.

There is a page for hardware compatibility in ubuntu.com. Alternatively search for your model of "printer XYZ and ubuntu" and hope some one uses it.

Generally, any newer releases are better for good hardware compatibility.

It's not about which distro you use...it is simply a question of having the latest driver packages.

Your other thread has the specific details, so let's not duplicate that here.

Those deb packages I provided didn't work when I tried using them (The package installed, but no files were extracted.) The DEBs I provided are also now gone, and I have no way of retrieving them. Plus, Lexmark doesn't make x4550 drivers for the LDK.

This now qualifies as a duplicate thread--I'm reporting to ask them to be combined.
