U8668-D mobo, FC 4 won't reboot, hangs

For various reasons, I've been doing a standard FC4 install on a variety of cheap hardware to serve as a DNS appliance. For the first time, I'm seeing a problem rebooting. The system is a generic cheap-ass server with a U8668-D mobo, Award BIOS 6.00PG.

The system will not reboot, it hangs at the "Restarting system." output on the console and never goes back to the BIOS. Ctrl-Alt-Delete will not even work at this point to reboot the system, a power cycle is required.

I've tried reboot=b, reboot=w, reboot=h options to the kernel, they do not help. (Reboot=c is the default, it does not work either.)

With reboot=h, I do see all three keyboard LEDs blink, so I think the kernel is sending the BIOS whatever it's supposed to send, and it's the BIOS's fault for not rebooting.

I guess I could try upgrading the BIOS if one is available.

Anybody worked around this?

Thanks -wsanders

U8668-D mobo, FC 4 won't reboot, works in FC6

I installed FC6 on this box and it does reboot OK. So it has something to do either with the way I did my installation (the same as on all other hosts, many of them, though) or else the kernel has changed. Not close dyet, I'd still like to get to the bottom of it but it's hard to get much insight into how the kernel communicates with BIOS at reboot time.
