Two screens

I recently found a old 17 inch CRT-monitor. I got another 19 inch LCD-monitor. My graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT, which does have two ports for monitors. So I was wondering if I could attach both of my monitors and have them displaying different.

Is this possible? Any howtos?

displaying different what? generally Xinerama is used to join displays together, but the nvidia drivers can do it internal to the driver too. the xinerama howto is a good general reference for details on dual head systems.

The bigger better experts will have to help me out on this, but we've been doing a lot of dual head stuff at work. I've only done it once and don't have my notes handy but it hasn't been trivial, but its not been real hard either. What we have found is that while the configuration changes are all contained in one or two files, The soultion has differed quite a bit by termainal and terminal manufacuter. Most of our dual heading has been on flat panels and we've found most of the solutions googling. Searches typically consist of {Linux nvidia terminal type}

Good luck.
